About

My name is Sam Hight and I have eighteen years of physics teaching experience in NZ secondary schools. I have a South African wife, though I’m a kiwi from Waikato, and we have six children. We have used a mixture of homeschooling and Christian schooling to meet the educational needs of our own kids.

I am a Reformed Baptist by conviction and have experience working with a wide range of denominational beliefs. With God’s Word as the foundation for Christianity, unity despite diversity is possible and glorifies our triune God. I have begun training part time for ministry as a pastor and have years of experience discipling teenagers and teaching the Bible.

With recent government action, I am considering leaving teaching in schools. I wish to support others like me who have had their trust shaken by a government that overreaches and interferes with quality education and families. If you are now considering homeschooling your child, but are worried about having sufficient support for physics and maths (and other sciences), I want to reassure you that I will help in whatever way I can.

I still have bills to pay, otherwise I would offer my services completely free, but if your circumstances mean that you can’t afford much please do reach out to me to discuss other ideas. I’m open to a koha or trading system to support one another through this difficult time in NZ history.

Using my videos

All of my videos on The Physics Lounge are free. Please use them in any way that you wish. I started creating them about 10 years ago and there is more than enough to get a self-motivated student through most high school physics.
